SJPC Board Names Kevin Castagnola as the Executive Director & CEO
1/31/2012 Kevin F. Castagnola, a more than 25-year veteran manager of the South Jersey Port Corporation (SJPC) was promoted by the SJPC Board of Directors at its meeting on January 31, 2012 to head the corporation as Executive Director and CEO. He succeeds, his mentor, Joseph A. Balzano Jr., who died in October after more than 60 years of service.

“Kevin was the natural choice for continuity of leadership and vision for the port and obviously the decades of exemplary experience with our operations,” said Chairman Richard Alaimo. “He has worked in all aspects of the port’s operations including marketing and labor relations. He has a well-deserved reputation in the marine terminal world and is highly respected internationally.”

A marine terminal expert who joined the SJPC in 1986, Castagnola served as Assistant Executive Director of the South Jersey Port Corporation since 2004. And like his mentor, he worked his way up the organization from traffic manager up to assistant executive director and now executive director.

“I deeply appreciate the board’s trust and confidence in me,” said Castagnola. “The mission of the SJPC will continue to be about job-creation and economic development for South Jersey. These are very challenging times but we will continue to invest in the growth of the port at the Paulsboro Marine Terminal and our Camden terminals to enhance the vital economic impacts our facilities provide to our host communities and the region.”
