South Jersey Port Corporation Commemorates National Maritime Day

South Jersey Port Corporation joins ports around the hemisphere to commemorate National Maritime Day with a ship ‘Sound Off’ May 18-22 to recognize the role of seaports and maritime workers in COVID-19 response and recovery, supply chain continuity & long-term economic stability.

Maritime Day annually recognizes the mariners, the maritime industry, ports and their workforces. This week, vessels in harbors and at berths are encouraged to sound their horns or whistles four times at noon each day as ports work to keep the supply chain moving during this difficult time.

South Jersey Port Corporation moves more than four million tons of raw materials through its marine terminals on an annual basis, creating jobs and opportunities for the communities and region we serve.

When you hear the horns or whistles at noon each day, remember the importance of the ports in the community and the economy. Use the hastags #NationalMaritimeDay, #SoundOff and #SeaportsDeliver to post your thoughts about ports on social media in observance of National Maritime Day.
